Recently, at the Shijiazhuang Economic and Trade Fair, the Jingzi County Calcium Magnesium Industry Association and Jilin University signed a significant technology transfer agreement for "functional ultra-fine modified calcium carbonate." This collaboration marks a major step forward in integrating production, education, and research, aiming to boost the local calcium and magnesium industry. In the past few days, with the support of the Shijiazhuang Science and Technology Bureau, representatives from Jingzi County’s Calcium and Magnesium Industry Association met with Jilin University to discuss the practical implementation of this project. According to the plan, Jilin University will introduce its advanced technology into the initiative. For the first time, they will use a micro-controlled directional synthesis process to produce functional nano-scale calcium carbonate. This innovation is expected to enhance the filling and reinforcement properties of plastic products, improve performance in the rubber industry by replacing costly white carbon black, and significantly increase retention rates in papermaking processes. Under the terms of the agreement, Jingzi County has committed to increasing its investment in the project. The total investment is expected to reach 15 million yuan. Once operational, the plant will produce 30,000 tons of functional ultra-fine modified calcium carbonate annually. With a unit price exceeding 2,200 yuan per ton, the project is projected to generate an annual output value of over 60 million yuan and contribute more than 26 million yuan in annual profits and taxes. Upon completion, the project is expected to serve as a model for industrial upgrading in the region, driving progress in the calcium and magnesium sector and accelerating China's broader development in calcium-based materials. This partnership not only strengthens the technological foundation of the industry but also highlights the potential for academic-industry collaboration to drive sustainable growth.
