DuPont was founded in 1802 and is named after its founder and famous chemist. DuPont was in the titanium dioxide industry in the 1930s. At the time, its subsidiary, Krebs Pigment and Color Co., merged with the Commercial Pigment Co. of the 1928 Baltimore Curtis Bay Sulfuric Acid Titanium Dioxide Production Plant. In 1934, Krebs Pigment established a second titanium dioxide plant in Edgemore, Delaware. In 1943, DuPont annexed Krebs Pigment.
In 1959, DuPont used its years of technology to build the world's first chlorination plant in New Johnville, Tennessee, and a major turning point in world titanium dioxide production. Thereafter, DuPont has developed grade Ti0 2 using only 60% -70% of a rutile titanium iron ore stone mixing a titanium dioxide ore chlorination process of mineral resources. At present, DuPont has five titanium dioxide factories, three in the United States, one in Mexico and one in Taiwan. By the end of 2002, its production capacity was 1.05 million tons. It is the world's largest titanium dioxide production company, all of which use chlorination. The process is sold under the trademark “Ti-Pure 8 â€, as shown in the table.
DuPont's Ti-Pure 8 R706, R900, R902, R931, R960, R102, R103, R104, R105 chlorinated titanium dioxide have been widely used in China in recent years.
