During the "May 1st" holiday period, the locally developed JNG-2 CDQ unit by Ma’anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. for the 7.63-meter large coke oven in Anhui Province officially broke ground in the new district. This marks a significant milestone in Masteel’s "Eleventh Five-Year Plan," as it moves into the next major supporting project. The start of substantial construction represents a key step forward in building a modern coking production line that combines advanced technology with an environmentally friendly setup. This initiative is expected to play a vital role in promoting China’s domestic CDQ technology and equipment, enhancing both efficiency and sustainability.
CDQ (Coke Dry Quenching) technology is a cutting-edge solution promoted by China’s metallurgical industry. It offers multiple benefits, including improved coke quality, recovery of waste heat from red coke, reduced environmental pollution, and lower overall steel production costs. The technology has already been successfully implemented in Masteel’s No. 5 and No. 6 coke ovens. The CDQ demonstration project has demonstrated strong economic, environmental, and social returns.
To transform the new district into a state-of-the-art facility, two 70-hole 7.63-meter large coke ovens are currently under construction, designed to be environmentally friendly. Masteel has invested nearly 300 million yuan in these projects. The largest of these ovens will be equipped with two JNG-2 CDQ units capable of processing 130 tons per hour, along with 70-ton-per-hour, 3.82 MPa CDQ boilers and two 18,000 kW extraction steam condensing turbines. These systems will supply high-quality coke to the 4,000 cubic meter blast furnace in the Ma’anshan New District, further strengthening the company's production capabilities and environmental performance.
