On August 16th, the National Development and Reform Commission announced the operation of the chemical industry in July. The industry growth value increased by 11% year-on-year, and the growth rate decreased by 4.4 percentage points year-on-year.
In July, the output of major chemical products: Ethylene production decreased 6.5% year-on-year; primary forms of plastic and synthetic fiber production increased by 7.3% and 7.2%, respectively; synthetic rubber output fell by 1%; caustic soda production increased by 5.5% and soda ash production rose by 0.2%; Fertilizer production increased by 8.5%, of which nitrogen fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer increased by 5.1% and 22.2%, respectively; potash fertilizer decreased by 6%; pesticide production increased by 26.4%; rubber tire output increased by 5.5%. The output of calcium carbide fell by 3.5%.
Among the chemical products that were monitored, except for caustic soda (caproline) and domestic potassium chloride, the prices of most products fell back from the previous month. In July, the average price of caustic soda (caproline) was 3,350 yuan/ton, which was 1.5% higher than the previous month and 8.1% year-on-year; the soda ash was 1,450 yuan/ton, which was 7.6% lower than the previous month and 34.4% year-on-year. Urea 2290 yuan / ton, down 3.8% from last month, down 0.4%; domestic phosphoric acid diamine 3120 yuan / ton, down 1% over the previous month, down 5.5%; calcium carbide 3190 yuan / ton, down 1.8 from the previous month %, down 24.9% year-on-year.
From January to July, the added value of the chemical industry increased by 11.9% year-on-year, a year-on-year decrease of 3.4 percentage points. Of the major products, ethylene production was 8.78 million tons, a decrease of 3.8%. The output of primary forms of plastics was 30.5 million tons, an increase of 9%; the output of synthetic rubber was 2.14 million tons, an increase of 5%; the output of synthetic fibers was 5.88 million tons, an increase of 10.1%. The output of caustic soda was 15.17 million tons, an increase of 3.7%. Soda ash production was 14 million tons, an increase of 6.4%. Fertilizer production was 43.26 million tons, an increase of 11.5%; among them, nitrogen fertilizer, phosphate fertilizer and potash fertilizer production increased by 9.8%, 18.2% and 4.2% respectively. The output of pesticides was 2.01 million tons, an increase of 22.8%. The output of rubber tires was 49.954 million, an increase of 4.9%. The output of calcium carbide was 11.16 million tons, an increase of 6%.
In the first half of the year, the chemical industry realized a profit of 155.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 18.9%. Among them, the profit of the fertilizer manufacturing industry was 21.3 billion yuan, an increase of 15.5%.
