On February 11, 2014, the reporter learned recently that the rapid economic growth in the domestic economy and the rapid growth in the production and sales of automobiles have led to a substantial increase in the demand for carbon black , and the gap between supply and demand has been increasing. The relevant person expects that by 2015, the supply and demand gap in the domestic carbon black industry will reach around 550,000 tons, and a large amount of carbon black products will need to be imported from abroad every year to make up for the domestic market demand.

On the other hand, China's carbon black industry has experienced a period of rapid development in recent years: In 2003, China's carbon black production was only 1.01 million tons, reaching 2.83 million tons in 2009, and nearly 3.8 million tons in 2012, only a decade. In time, production more than tripled. This speed of development is also very rare in the international community.

It is reported that although there is a large market supply and demand gap, the capacity utilization rate of the Chinese carbon black industry is currently only maintained at 60%-70%.

More pressure on SMEs

According to relevant sources, the production capacity of China's carbon black industry is still not in surplus. The reason why capacity is used to low is mainly based on the following reasons.

First of all, as the market demand for carbon black products in China has been magnified, small and medium-sized enterprises in some regions have launched carbon black installations, and there are many redundant industries. In recent years, the economic development at home and abroad has slowed down, and the downstream industry has been demanding carbon black. A decrease has resulted in the slow-moving production of carbon black products.

Secondly, due to the accelerating expansion of production capacity in the carbon black industry, the uneven development in various regions, and the homogenization of the company's products, resulting in poor profitability and low product utilization.

Third, among the carbon black manufacturers in China, only a handful of large companies are involved. Most of the production capacity is concentrated in small and medium-sized enterprises. The industry's production capacity is too fragmented. The homogeneity of products of small and medium-sized enterprises, lack of brand effect, and poor sales have dragged down the overall capacity utilization rate of the industry.

Finally, SMEs lack technological advantages. Some SMEs blindly launched carbon black products. Compared with well-known enterprises, they lacked technological competitive advantages, the company's cost was low, the enthusiasm for new technology research and development was not high, and market pressure increased.

Should reduce low-level production capacity

According to reports, the capacity utilization rate of the Chinese carbon black industry is maintained at 60%-70% on average, which is close to the international level. However, this is only reflected in large and medium-sized enterprises, especially the operating conditions and capacity utilization of large-scale enterprises. Most of them are relatively good. . The utilization rate of SMEs is still low, and production and sales are not balanced.

According to the analysis, as an important raw material for the tire industry, currently 70% of domestic carbon black production is used for tire production, and the downstream industry's demand is strong, driving the rapid development of the carbon black industry. With the expansion of production capacity, the competition among enterprises has also begun to intensify, which has brought enormous market pressure to SMEs.

Relevant persons told reporters that in this context, domestic carbon black companies are very much in need of industrial integration to strengthen industry concentration, reduce homogenization of products, reduce low-level production capacity, and improve the market competitive advantage of enterprises. Whoever can walk ahead in this area may be the leader in the future market competition.
