The experts from the Loma company in the United States are carrying out related research and development on the supersonic jet airborne high-energy laser weapon and have been approaching success.
The main problems with supersonic jet-laden high-energy laser weapons include compensating for atmospheric turbulence perturbations and ensuring that lasers can accurately strike a target at any angle on a rapidly moving platform. According to Loma, a high-energy laser weapon installed on a platform close to the speed of sound can only hit the immediate front if atmospheric disturbances can not be compensated. This will seriously affect the combat effectiveness of laser weapons against manned or unmanned airplanes and missiles, which may strike at any angle.
Loma's space systems division has completed nearly 60 flight tests and tested its Aeronautical Adaptive Aviation Beam Control System (ABC) mounts, which were developed with the support of DARPA.
The ABC mounts provide a 360-degree view of a high-energy laser weapon system mounted on a near-sounding fighter jet. Loma uses a commercial jet to simulate a combat aircraft in supersonic conditions.
In early 2013, Loma launched the research and development of the ABC laser turret and signed the third phase R & D contract with the US Defense Advanced Research Agency (DARPA) for a $ 9.5 million ABC project to upgrade the airborne laser weapons in the rear of the confrontation aircraft The enemy's goal of combat effectiveness. Relevant research and development work will be undertaken by the Space Systems division of Loma and Phase III of the ABC project will be completed by the fall of this year.
The ABC laser turret measures and verifies the laser's ability to fire in all directions by launching a low-power laser beam.
