Autodesk has launched a new line of Digital Prototyping software tailored for manufacturers, offering affordable access to the full range of Autodesk tools. The 2015 Manufacturing design suites include the Product Design Suite (PrDS), Factory Design Suite (FDS), data management solutions, and an extensive Simulation and software portfolio. These tools are designed to streamline workflows from product development to delivery.
“With our suites, designers and engineers get a complete set of tools and cloud services that simplify design, visualization, and simulation processes,†said Robert “Buzz†Kross, Senior Vice President at Autodesk. “By providing scalable, cost-effective, and open solutions, we empower customers to design, manufacture, and sell better products.â€
The 2015 design suites come in multiple editions, including Standard (FDS only), Ultimate, and Premium (FDS and PrDS). Both versions feature an improved version of Autodesk Inventor with enhanced 3D modeling capabilities and productivity tools that help users work more efficiently.
The Product Design Suite now includes Freeform and Direct Edit modeling, along with improved Sketch features. These additions allow users to explore and create freeform models quickly, making it easier to modify imported solid models or native files. The new constraint tools also make sketching faster and more intuitive.
Inventor’s learning environment has been upgraded with a personal dashboard and guided tutorials, helping users master common workflows more effectively. Improvements have also been made to parts, assemblies, and drawing workflows.
Valiant, a global supplier of automated production systems, uses the Product Design Suite to enhance its competitiveness. According to Andrew Pawelski, CAD Systems Specialist at Valiant, the suite helps engineers focus more on innovation rather than repetitive tasks.
The Factory Design Suite 2015 offers factory customers powerful tools for layout planning, visualization, and analysis. It supports interoperable workflows and integrates with cloud-based resources. New features include streamlined transitions from legacy systems, extended use of Point Clouds via Autodesk ReCap, and improved Bill of Materials functionality.
Dearborn Mid-West, a provider of conveyor systems, relies on the Factory Design Suite to visualize space constraints and position equipment accurately. This reduces rework and improves customer satisfaction through detailed 3D designs.
The 2015 Simulation family includes Mechanical, CFD, Moldflow, and Composites, all designed to integrate seamlessly into every stage of product development. Enhancements such as updated workflows, Linux support, and decoupled design scenarios offer greater accuracy and efficiency.
Simulation CFD 2015 now includes advanced physics simulations, like evaporation and boiling, which are essential for fluid dynamics analysis. A new heat sink model allows for accurate system-level thermal analysis, improving chip temperature prediction.
Autodesk Subscription provides customers with the latest tools across desktops, mobile devices, and the cloud. Availability varies by region, and more details can be found at www.autodesk.com/purchaseoptions.
