From Tom Podraza:
The fire truck was originally purchased by DGFD and served as a reserve unit for seven years before being sold in 2014. It was later replaced by a 2007 Pierce pumper. The unit was then resold by Brindlee Mountain to the Pleasant Groves Volunteer Fire Department in Woodville, Alabama. According to the records, it saw very limited use there, with only around 2,000 miles logged since its last sale.
This 1995 Pierce Tilt Cab Saber Custom Pumper is currently listed on govdeals.com for $2,000, with two bids already placed. The auction closes on August 30th at 3:00 PM CDT. The reserve has been met, so the truck is up for grabs. The minimum bid increment is $25, and the sale is taking place online.
The vehicle is located in Woodville, Alabama, and features an 8.7L L6 Detroit Diesel engine that runs but requires repairs. The engine has accumulated 13,360 hours, and the latest oil analysis showed elevated levels of iron and aluminum. The Allison automatic transmission is still functional, and the truck was last maintained annually before being taken out of service on August 5th, 2024.
The Waterous CMU 1,500 GPM pump is operational, though its certification has expired. The unit includes a 500-gallon poly tank, three intake ports (two 6-inch and one 5-inch), and nine discharge ports (including 2.5-inch outlets on both sides). The tires are in good condition, and the truck comes equipped with all lights, a Q2B siren, auto-eject system, and three SCBA seats.
The cab does not tilt, and while some decal impressions remain, the interior is gray with well-maintained seating. The interior also includes warning lights, fans, and storage cabinets with roll-up doors. There is no cracked glass, and the truck appears to be in decent overall condition despite the need for some mechanical work.
