This is a 1999 Pierce Quantum aerial ladder truck that's still driveable. The cab and chassis are also from 1999, and it features a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine paired with an Allison EVS 4060 transmission. It comes equipped with a Harrison 10kW hydraulic PTO power generator that functions properly. The aerial device is a 105-foot PAL105 system, and the pump is a Hale QSMG-150/1500-GPM unit. There’s also an Elkhart foam eductor pre-piped to the front cross lay.
The truck has a combination 5-inch rear discharge that can be switched between the pump or the aerial waterway via a valve. It includes five seating positions—three of which are SCBA-ready (one fold-down jump seat). A center-mounted EMS cabinet is located in the rear of the cab. The only equipment included is ground ladders and an electric fog nozzle for the master stream. The ladders consist of a 10’ folding ladder, 14’ combination ladder, one 16’ roof ladder, one 14’ roof ladder, one 12’ roof ladder, a 24’ extension, and a 35’ extension.
The truck was last tested in 2018 and has up-to-date preventive maintenance records. Its last aerial test passed in 2017.
Recent Repairs:
The pump was overhauled in 2011, the engine rebuilt in 2012, and the transmission replaced in 2012. The front frame rails have been reinforced due to stress cracks behind the engine and transmission mounts. The aerial swivel was replaced in 2013, and all emergency light bars were upgraded to LED in the same year.
Issues Identified:
The aerial device failed its 2018 annual inspection due to excessive wear in the primary rotation bearing. The rear frame shows significant rust scale, rust jacking, and corrosion, and the rear suspension has rust holes in the carriers, with the right side needing repair or replacement. The A/C compressor is seized, and the belt has been removed. In 2011, the truck was driven into about 4 feet of water.
