This is a fully operational 1999 Pierce aerial ladder truck with a 1999 cab and chassis model called Quantum. It's powered by a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine and an Allison EVS 4060 transmission. The unit is equipped with a Harrison 10kW hydraulic PTO power generator that works well. It features a 105-foot PAL105 aerial ladder and a Hale mid-ship QSMG-150/1500-GPM pump. There's also an Elkhart panel-mounted foam eductor pre-piped to the front cross lay. The truck has a combination 5-inch rear discharge or direct aerial waterway inlet, controlled by a valve.
There are five seating positions, including three SCBA seats (one fold-down jump seat that isn’t SCBA-rated). A center-mounted EMS cabinet is located in the rear of the cab. The only equipment included with the truck is ground ladders and an electric fog nozzle for the master stream. The ladders consist of a 10' folding, 14' combination, one 16' roof, one 14' roof, one 12' roof, two 24' extension, and a 35' extension.
The pump was last tested in 2018, and the truck is up to date on preventive maintenance. Its last aerial test was in 2017.
Recent Repairs:
The pump was overhauled in 2011, the engine was rebuilt in 2012, and the transmission was replaced the same year. The front frame rails have been splinted due to stress cracks just behind the engine and transmission mounts. The aerial swivel was replaced in 2013, and all overhead emergency light bars were upgraded to LED in the same year.
Issues Found:
The aerial device failed its annual inspection in 2018 due to excessive wear in the primary rotation bearing. The rear frame has had multiple repairs but still shows significant rust scale, rust jacking, and corrosion. The rear suspension has rust holes in the carriers, and the right side needs repair or replacement. The A/C compressor is seized and the belt has been removed. In 2011, the truck was driven into about 4 feet of water.
