According to the China Rubber Industry Association, the United States will implement new tire testing standards from June 1, 2007. By then, tires that do not meet the new test standards will not be able to enter the US market; tires that have entered the US market and do not meet the new standards will face recall requirements. This indicates that our tires exported to the US market will face new thresholds.
It is understood that the United States is the largest export market for Chinese tires. In 2004, China’s exports of tires to the United States grew at a rate of 38%, and broke through the top spot in Japan for many years. The export volume of automobile tires reached 22.885 million, accounting for 33% of the total exported tires. Among them, motorized passenger car tires exported 116.629 million U.S. tires, accounting for 51% of U.S. tire exports. Exports have become an important factor in driving the growth of China's tire industry. Whether it can pass the new US FMVSS139 tire test standards will directly affect the development and export prospects of China's tire industry.
According to the China Rubber Industry Association, the new tire standards to be implemented in the United States apply to all vehicle tires with a total rated mass of less than or equal to 4.5 tons. Its greatest feature is that the safety parameters are more stringent than the current standards. For example, if the tire is to be tested at low pressure under high pressure, the test speed will increase from 121 km, 129 km, and 137 km per hour to 140 km, 150 km, and 160 km; the durability test mileage will reach 4080. In kilometers, it has increased by 1.5 times; it also includes tyre detachment, aging, air permeability and road hazard tests. According to industry experts, the new test standards will have a greater impact on the export of U.S. passenger tires and some light truck tires, especially in terms of high speed performance requirements. If it does not adapt to the new standards as soon as possible, there will be a possibility that the Chinese tires will be recalled.
Gu Hongzhen, president of the China Rubber Industry Association, reminded that the new standards and tire recalling system that will be implemented in the United States will not open up the Chinese tire network, and must pay enough attention to ideological considerations and actions.
It is understood that the China Rubber Industry Association has convened related companies to conduct special studies on the impact of the new US standards on the Chinese tire industry and reached a consensus: it must have its own core technology to accelerate the improvement of the high-speed, durability, and quality stability of domestic tire products. Balanced.
