The National Development and Reform Commission recently announced a revision to domestic gasoline prices, marking the fourth price adjustment of the year. A few days ago, the commission issued an official notice detailing the changes in refined oil pricing. Following this announcement, Beijing quickly implemented the new rates. The price of 93-octane gasoline, for instance, was increased from 3.02 yuan per liter to 3.20 yuan, reflecting a rise of 0.18 yuan. This latest adjustment brings fuel prices closer to the levels seen at the start of the year.
In February, the city had already witnessed a price hike, with an average increase of 0.19 yuan. At that time, 93 gasoline rose from 3.12 yuan to 3.29 yuan per liter, a gain of 0.17 yuan. Prior to that, there were two reductions in May and July, which temporarily eased the pressure on consumers. However, with the most recent update, the overall trend is once again moving upward, signaling a potential shift in market dynamics.
This adjustment comes amid ongoing global energy market fluctuations and domestic economic considerations. Analysts suggest that continued volatility in international oil prices may lead to more frequent adjustments in the coming months. For now, drivers in Beijing are facing higher costs at the pump, adding to the broader conversation about energy policy and affordability.
