Cummins ' Cummins Emissions Processing System announced on November 8, 2011 that the new EcoFitTM Cummins urea injection system has entered the advanced development stage. The product innovation of this post-processing technology is tailored to meet the new emission regulations to be implemented in China, India and Russia. The new EcoFitTM Cummins urea injection system was officially unveiled at a customer appreciation event in Beijing. Nearly 100 customers attended the event.

The Cummins Emissions Processing System is also officially launching the EcoFitTM brand, which will serve as a common identifier for Cummins emission treatment systems for post-processing products and solutions in all markets worldwide. EcoFitTM means that Cummins utilizes innovative technologies to provide tailor-made clean emission solutions for different Engine and application needs.

“I am very pleased to formally announce the launch of the latest innovations in Cummins Emissions Processing Systems,” said Zach Gillen, General Manager of the Cummins Emissions Processing System Engineering Business Unit. “Our global development team has performed this task brilliantly, which not only satisfies customers with reduced overall use. The demand for cost can meet the requirements of future emission standards."

The EcoFitTM Cummins urea injection system was developed by Cummins emission treatment systems for light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Relying on Cummins' technological advantages and innovative methods of post-processing solutions, the EcoFitTM Cummins urea injection system can be perfectly matched to existing engines and aftertreatment systems, while improving the system's tough durability and fuel economy.

Localization support

The EcoFit Cummins urea injection system will be manufactured at the Cummins Emissions Processing System in Beijing and will be backed by a global technical team. A large part of the team's personnel are based in Beijing.

“Based on localized development and manufacturing, we are able to better understand the needs of our customers and customize our products to become the most effective post-processing solution on the market,” said Luo Zhihui, general manager of Cummins Emissions Processing Systems China. In addition, Cummins' distribution service network around the world can help customers anytime, anywhere."

EcoFitTM Aftertreatment Solution

The EcoFitTM aftertreatment solution is designed to monitor, control and diagnose the operation of engines and aftertreatment systems to reduce emissions while optimizing the performance of the entire engine and vehicle system. EcoFitTM products will achieve lower overall product usage costs and help customers stand out in the market competition by improving the overall system integration advantages.

EcoFitTM Cummins Urea Injection System Provides Better Fuel Economy and Smaller Package Sizes

The EcoFitTM Cummins urea injection system is a reductant delivery system that injects a 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water solution, also known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid or AdBlueTM , into the exhaust. The TM Cummins Urea Injection System greatly enhances the integration of the entire system through the existing Selective Catalytic Reduction system, and enables customers to adjust the engine to improve its performance by increasing the conversion efficiency of nitrogen oxides (Oxides of Nitrogen). Fuel economy, or reducing the size of conventional selective catalytic reduction systems. The system design can also significantly reduce the risk of urea deposition and improve the durability and reliability of the aftertreatment system.

Cummins in China

The history of Cummings and China dates back more than half a century to the 1940s. On March 11, 1941, the President of the United States, Franklin Roosevelt, signed the Lease Act to provide wartime assistance to 38 countries, including China. The "Lending Act" includes military defense patrol boats equipped with Cummins engines and military trucks.

At the end of 1944, a Chongqing company sent a letter to Cummins Corp. seeking to establish commercial ties and conduct localized production of Cummins engines in China. Irvine Miller, general manager of Cummins Engine Co., expressed great interest in this letter in his reply. It is hoped that Cummins will build a factory in China after the Sino-Japanese War. For reasons known to all, Mr. Miller's idea can only wait until the 1970s 30 years later. With the gradual relaxation of Sino-U.S. relations, it is expected to become a reality.

Cummins and its affiliates have invested more than US$1 billion in China. As the largest foreign investor in the Chinese diesel industry, Cummins’ business relationship with China began in 1975, when Cummins’ chairman, Irvine Miller, made his first visit. Beijing became one of the earliest US entrepreneurs who came to China to seek commercial cooperation. When China and the United States established diplomatic relations in 1979, China’s opening to the outside world began. The first Cummins China office was established in Beijing.

Cummins was one of the earliest western diesel engine companies to produce engines in China. In 1981, Cummins started to produce engines in the Chongqing engine plant. In 1995, Cummins' first Chinese joint venture engine factory was established. So far, Cummins has a total of 26 institutions in China, including 15 wholly-owned and joint ventures, with more than 9,000 employees, producing engines, Generator sets, alternators, filtration systems, turbocharging systems, aftertreatment and fuel oil Systems and other products have a service network consisting of 12 regional service centers, more than 30 customer support platforms, and more than 300 authorized distributors.

Cummins has long established a strategic alliance with large Chinese companies to achieve common development. As the earliest foreign-invested diesel engine company to come to China for local production, Cummins has established four engine joint venture plants with leading companies of commercial vehicles in China including Dongfeng Motor, Shaanxi Automobile Group and Beiqi Foton for more than 30 years. Cummins 18 Of the 11 engine series, 11 have been produced locally in China.

Cummins was the first foreign-owned diesel engine company to establish an R&D center in China. In August 2006, the engine technology R&D center set up by Cummins in cooperation with Dongfeng Corporation was officially opened in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

In 2010 Cummins sold more than US$3.1 billion in China, and China has become Cummins’ largest and fastest growing overseas market.
