In a heartwarming display of camaraderie among first responders, the Shelbyville Fire Department recently received a generous donation of brand-new gear and a substantial financial boost. This act of kindness came after several pieces of their equipment were severely compromised during a hazardous oil rig fire near Clarksburg back in April. The contamination caused by oil exposure rendered the gear unsafe for frontline firefighters, limiting its use to only secondary responders.
Shelbyville Fire Chief Gary Lynch expressed his immense gratitude upon receiving the new supplies. "We couldn't be more thrilled," he stated. "This wouldn't have happened without the incredible support from the Evanston Fire Department and local organizations."
The genesis of this donation can be traced back to a casual encounter at the Balloonfest in October. A visitor from Chicago, who happens to be a member of the Evanston Fire Department, attended the event where the Shelbyville team showcased their firefighting capabilities. Impressed by their demonstration and moved by their plight, the visitor reached out to his superiors with a proposal to send surplus gear to Shelbyville. True to his word, the gear arrived earlier this week, much to the delight of the local firefighters.
Adding to the cheer, the Shelbyville Fire Department was presented with a $10,000 check through collaborative efforts involving Shelby Electric Cooperative, the Shelbyville Area Community Foundation, and CoBank's Sharing Success Program. According to Kevin Bernson of Shelby Electric Cooperative, the community fundraising efforts at Balloonfest raised close to $4,000, which, combined with additional contributions, secured the necessary matching grant from CoBank.
Noel Bolinger from the Shelbyville Area Community Foundation elaborated on their role in ensuring the full match was achieved. "We wanted to make sure they had every opportunity to benefit from these programs," he explained.
With this influx of resources, the department plans to acquire ten more sets of protective gear, each with a seven-year lifespan. Chief Lynch mentioned that any older but still serviceable equipment would be redistributed to the State Fire Marshal for allocation to other departments in need.
Funding for the Shelbyville Fire Department primarily relies on taxpayer contributions. Supplementary fundraising initiatives play a crucial role in covering essential expenses, especially since many team members volunteer their time. Chief Lynch reiterated his appreciation for the collective efforts of Shelby Electric Cooperative, the Foundation, and CoBank, emphasizing how pivotal their involvement was in making this happen.
Reflecting on the recent developments, it's clear that this gesture of solidarity not only strengthens ties between neighboring departments but also highlights the power of community spirit and mutual aid in overcoming challenges faced by public safety workers.
Low-temperature 1-color Pyrometer
This classification includes one color infrared pyrometers measuring range is 250℃-2200℃. The one color pyrometers currently on market are mostly narrow-band pyrometers. Its principle of temperature measurement is to determine the temperature by detecting the radiant energy that occurs in a narrow wavelength range of an object. The temperature a pyrometer measured is the average temperature in an area, and the measuring result is affected by emissivity, lens contamination and background radiation.
To use 1-color pyrometer mode, the measured area of the object should be large (it can fully fill the target field of view) , object surface should be relatively flat (not curved), measurement direction should less than 30 degrees, and the physical and chemical state of the measured object surface should be stable (not in the process of oxidation, gasification or liquefaction) , the optical channel should with less dust and without blocking and attenuation.
Main applications include: inductioin heating, heat treatment,Galvanized wire ,also suitable for temperature measurement in a good environment. Products in this catalog are usually applied to metallurgical industry(rod and wire mills.Hot rolling mills), foundry, cement kiln, induction heating, heat treatment, heating furnace, vacuum furnace, monocrystalline silicon, polysilicon, semiconductor and other industrial temperature measurement.1-color pyrometer, monochromatic infrared pyrometer, one color pyrometer, one-color infrared pyrometer
