The main feature of this valve is its dual functionality as both a pressure relief valve and a pressure sustaining valve. As a pressure relief valve, it can release excess pressure beyond the set value of the pilot valve, maintaining safe pipe pressure to prevent damage caused by high or sudden pressure surges. It is commonly used in fire suppression systems, water supply systems, and other applications where excessive hydraulic pressure could pose a risk. As a pressure relief valve, the main valve is installed on the bypass line, connected in parallel with the main pipeline. When the upstream pressure exceeds the pilot valve setting (typically 20 bar), the main valve opens to release pressure until the upstream pressure drops below the set point. This prevents water hammer and ensures pipeline safety. It is mainly used in scenarios where flow supply exceeds demand, such as during the initial phase of fire hydrant systems, automatic sprinklers, and pump outlets. As a pressure sustaining valve, the main valve is installed in series with the main pipeline. If the upstream pressure is below the pilot valve setting, the main valve closes. When the upstream pressure rises above the set value, the valve opens to maintain a minimum pressure level. It is particularly useful in fire protection systems to prevent overpressure due to excessive pumping. 6. Installation and Adjustment 1. The optimal installation position is horizontal with the pump cover facing upward. Other installation methods are also acceptable, but it's important to clean the pipes thoroughly before installation. Ensure the flow direction arrow on the valve body is correctly aligned. Avoid any stress on the valve after installation. 2. A gate valve and filter should be installed before the main valve, and another gate valve should be placed after it for maintenance purposes. 3. Ensure the pipeline is in good condition, the needle valve is open, and the ball valve is closed. Fully open the balance ball valves. When adjusting, loosen the lock nut under the pilot valve wheel, then turn the wheel clockwise to increase pressure or counterclockwise to decrease it. Lock the nut after adjustment. 4.
