Cincinnati launches high speed extruder

Cincinnati Extrusion Technology Co., Ltd., a globally renowned supplier of extrusion equipment, will be showcasing its high-speed extruders at this year's K2007 in Germany. These machines can achieve extrusion speeds of up to 6 meters per minute, demonstrating the company’s cutting-edge technology and innovation in the field. One of the key highlights is the high-energy ARGOS 135 parallel twin-screw extruder, which has already proven its performance in real-world applications. A major manufacturer of door and window profiles successfully implemented this system, achieving a production speed of 6 m/min for double-cavity extrusion. Two KONOS72 conical twin-screw coextrusion machines were also used alongside the ARGOS 135, resulting in an impressive output of 1200 kg/h. Thanks to optimized mold design and internal cooling technology, the line speed reached 30% higher than standard, at 6 m/min, ensuring smooth and continuous operation. The three extruders are controlled through a unified, integrated system, while the compact design of the KONOS machines reduces the melt flow path between the extruder and the mold, improving efficiency. Another notable case is ALUPLAST in Wartberg/Krems, Austria, where Cincinnati’s ARGOS 135 was used with an 8-cavity mold from Greiner. This allowed for simultaneous high-speed extrusion of 6 m/min, equivalent to 48 m/min per single cavity — a first in plastic extrusion. The system uses 4-axis drive technology to ensure maximum torque transmission, allowing the extruder to reach peak performance. With an 8-step series thrust bearing arrangement, it can handle up to 500 bar of back pressure, especially when using co-extrusion dies. To maintain precise temperature control of the screw core, all screws are equipped with the maintenance-free Intracool internal cooling system. As a leader in extrusion technology, Cincinnati continuously improves its control systems. Their latest development includes a Windows XP-based internal computer with a touch screen interface, offering a user-friendly and advanced control solution for operators.
