This just came in from Larry Shapiro: Hey everyone, I wanted to share some details about an incident that unfolded earlier today. Both the Waukegan Fire Department and the North Chicago Fire Department received emergency calls around dawn today (10/10/15) regarding reports of smoke in the area or a fire. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a significant blaze at Waukegan Towing and Auto Repair, located at 1115 Elizabeth Street, near the boundary between Waukegan and North Chicago. Initially, the alarm was escalated to a Box Alarm for a change of quarters, prompting additional resources to be dispatched to the scene. Later, it was fully upgraded to bring in more units for assistance. Here are a few images I managed to capture. A video will follow shortly. [Attached are several photos showing the intense firefighting efforts, including North Chicago FD's Pierce tower ladder, various fire trucks, and scenes of charred vehicles.] The fire was quite intense, and crews worked diligently to contain the situation. It's always tough to see businesses affected like this, but the firefighters did an incredible job under challenging circumstances. For those interested in more visuals, you can check out more photos on shapirophotography.net. Take care, and stay safe!
