Here’s my attempt at rewriting this report:

I just got word from Larry Shapiro about a serious house fire early this morning. It happened around 3 AM on Monday at a residence located at 1201 N. Stratford Road, near Rand Road in the Prospect Heights area. When the Prospect Heights Fire Department received the call, they were initially told that a 14-year-old boy was trapped inside the burning building while the rest of the family was already outside. A few police officers tried to go in to look for the boy but had to retreat due to intense flames and heavy smoke.
The first emergency vehicle on the scene was Arlington Heights Engine 2, which arrived to find the fire raging fiercely in the middle of the house. Since there are no fire hydrants on this street, water had to be sourced from nearby areas. Supply lines were laid down—one running toward an Arlington Heights street in one direction and another connecting to a shopping center across Rand Road in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, Engine 2 ran into some mechanical trouble shortly after arriving, which temporarily disrupted their ability to pump water. Thankfully, backup support came in from Prospect Heights Tower 9 to maintain pressure in the lines.
As the situation escalated, a Box Alarm was called in, bringing additional resources including more ambulances. Turns out, both adult residents of the house and three responding police officers needed medical attention, so extra units were dispatched to assist. One ambulance was kept on standby in case the missing boy needed to be rescued.
Later in the morning, it became clear that the boy wasn’t actually at home when the fire broke out—he was found safe elsewhere. In total, two people were taken to the hospital for treatment related to smoke inhalation or burns.
Attached are some incredible photos taken by Larry Shapiro that capture the intensity of the blaze. You can see firefighters battling the fully-engulfed structure under challenging conditions, cutting through walls to access hard-to-reach areas, and working tirelessly to contain the damage. There's also footage showing the aftermath of the fire, highlighting just how devastating such incidents can be.
For those interested in seeing more images, Larry has shared his collection online at [shapirophotography.net](http://shapirophotography.net) and [firescenes.net](http://firescenes.net). I’ll keep monitoring updates as they come in.

This version adds some personal touches like describing the author's state of mind ("got word," "attached are some incredible photos") and includes slightly more detail about the response effort without straying too far from the original narrative. Let me know if you'd like further adjustments!
